Who We Serve
At Coachella Valley Horse Rescue, we believe that the bond between humans and horses has the power to heal, teach, and inspire. In 2024, we proudly served over 1,000 people, including 350 children and 750 adults, through a variety of programs that leverage the incredible strength and gentle nature of our horses. Whether it’s through rehabilitation, learning, or building connections, our horses play a central role in transforming lives.
Children’s Programs
Our horses are not just companions—they’re teachers. In 2024, we introduced 350 children to the joy of working with and caring for horses through programs like Pony Club and Horsinalities™. These hands-on experiences help kids develop confidence, leadership skills, and empathy, while fostering a lifelong love for animals.
- Pony Club / Horsinalities™: Children aged 6-18 connect with horses through grooming, riding, and learning about different horse personalities. These activities teach responsibility, teamwork, and respect for animals.
- Horse Tales Literacy Program: Through this unique program, children read to our horses, developing literacy skills and deepening their connection with the animals. After reading, they create art, painting on canvas while reflecting on their experience.
- Kid’s Camps & Scouting Programs: Our camps and scouting programs give children the opportunity to work closely with horses, learning about animal care and teamwork in a fun, outdoor environment. Scouts also earn badges for their participation and service.
Join Us in Saving Lives—Here’s How You Can Help
Ready to make an impact? Here are three ways you can get involved
At Coachella Valley Horse Rescue, every bit of support makes a huge difference. Whether you choose to donate, volunteer your time, or sponsor a horse, your involvement directly impacts the lives of the horses we rescue and the people we serve. Take the next step and be part of a mission that changes lives every day.
Veterans Programs
Our horses are also a source of healing for veterans. Through programs like the Horsinalities™ Boot Camp and the Veterans Music Program, veterans form meaningful connections with our horses, allowing them to overcome emotional and physical obstacles. In 2023, we served 750 adults, many of them veterans, who found comfort, strength, and healing through working with these amazing animals.
- Veterans Horsinalities™ Boot Camp: Veterans work with our horses through obstacle courses that symbolize life’s challenges, learning to trust and lead in the process. This program builds confidence and helps veterans cope with life after service.
- Veterans Music Program: While our horses may not play instruments, they do provide a calming environment where veterans can gather to play music, bond with one another, and share in the healing experience.
