Our mission
The Coachella Valley Horse Rescue’s mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome horses that have been abandoned, abused, neglected, or slated for slaughter and to provide them with a new lease on life and a chance for placement with a loving family.
We harness the healing power of our program horses to provide equine-assisted programs for veterans and children in the Coachella Valley.
Working with Coachella Valley Horse Rescue has been life-changing. I started as a volunteer, and within weeks, I knew this was where I belonged. Seeing the transformation of these once-neglected horses is nothing short of miraculous. And knowing that my efforts—no matter how small—play a role in giving them a second chance is incredibly fulfilling.

Horsinalities™
Developed at CVHR, Horsinalities™ teaches adults and children about different horse personalities, while promoting empowerment, leadership, and positive social skills. Our youth program also addresses anti-bullying, helping kids build empathy and confidence.

Children ages 6-18 explore the joy of horse care and bonding through arts, crafts, and riding lessons. Pony Club is a 10-11 week program that teaches basic skills like grooming, bridle/saddle use, and horse care, while incorporating Horsinalities™

In Horse Tales, kids of all ages bond with horses while reading and painting. Based on the story of Guapo, an animal at CVHR, the program encourages literacy and creativity while deepening connections with horses.

Our week-long Kids Camp is an exciting, hands-on experience where children learn about horses, care for them, and develop leadership skills. It’s a fun and educational way to spend spring break or summer vacation.

This program connects veterans with horses, guiding them through an obstacle course that symbolizes overcoming life’s challenges. Our veterans meet year-round for fellowship and healing, with team-building activities and our Healing with Music sessions in the summer.

In our Veterans Music Program, veterans gather to practice guitar and socialize, building connections in a safe and welcoming space. Whether outside or in the clubhouse during summer, it’s a chance to heal through music and community.

We sponsor bonding retreats where veterans connect through camping and fishing trips. These retreats provide a space for emotional healing and community-building, helping veterans strengthen bonds and find peace.
